Our commitment

The ALS/MND Directory is committed to meeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility standards. We believe everyone in the ALS community deserves equal access to the information they need.

Designed for assistive technology

People living with ALS often have limited motor function. The directory is designed from the ground up to be usable with:

• Eye-tracking devices (Tobii, EyeGaze, etc.)
• Switch-access scanning devices
• Voice control (Dragon, Voice Control, Voice Access)
• Screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
• Full keyboard navigation — every interactive element is reachable with Tab and operable with Enter / Space; Escape closes overlays.

Interactive controls meet a minimum 44×44 pixel target size, color contrast meets WCAG AA ratios, and a "Skip to main content" link is provided on every page.

Ongoing improvements

Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time audit. We continuously test with real users and assistive technologies, and we ship improvements with every release — recent work includes larger touch targets, expanded ARIA labelling on map and filter controls, focus-visible states across all buttons, and screen-reader text alternatives for the interactive map.
